Mardi Gras is just around the corner. With all the beads, costumes, decorations, and floats, where do you have space to put all this stuff? You may want your float to be at its best for the parades and don’t want it to get damaged by the elements. Or do you need a place to save your festivities for next year? Storage units are a fantastic choice for storing your Mardi Gras stuff.
The Gulf Coast’s weather can be inconsistent at this time of the year, so a climate-controlled storage would be best to help ensure that your stuff can make it to the parade in the best condition possible. The climate-controlled storage unit can help prevent mildew and mold from the hot, humid, and wet weather.
Be sure not to store any food, candles, scented waxes, or dried plants. You need to take some steps for your costumes to maintain the quality of your outfit. If the costume is made with polyester, acrylic, or cotton, you can wash the costume in a washing machine. Make sure that you’re using the delicate cycle when washing. You might not have to store your child’s costume because kids like to play with it, and the outfit is small enough not to take up much space in the closet, plus the kids could use the costume for a school play or another holiday, and some kids might not be able to fit into their costume next year. Wash your wigs with shampoo and conditioner that’s made for wigs. Next, let the wig air dry on a towel. Finally, fold the wig and place it into a hairnet.
Now, as far as beads go, clean the beads of all candy and food. Store the beads in a sturdy container with a lid that locks.
Floats can take up quite a bit of space at home, but they would be great for a storage unit. Cleaning the inside and outside of the float will help prevent any bad smells and pests.
